Doyon Project Services was awarded this project for cleaning and repointing masonry on Building 568 at the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command on Fort Detrick. This project included thoroughly cleaning the building masonry, concrete border and window sills and returning them to or near the original color. Cracked bricks were replaced with new brick, matching the existing color and finishing the existing brick. Mortar joints were grounded out and repointed to match the mortar color of the elevator addition. Doyon also sealed the brick and precast with an appropriate clear sealer that does not fade or discolor, and re-caulked the doors and windows.
